In 2007-2008 waren 308 duizend personen werkloos.
Dit komt overeen met 4,0 procent van de beroepsbevolking.
De werkloosheid onder mannen neemt al sinds begin 2005 af.
Bij de vrouwen begon de daling van de werkloosheid ongeveer een jaar later.
Sinds enkele maanden is de afname van de werkloosheid bij de vrouwen groter dan bij de mannen.
In beide groepen was de werkloosheid het laagst bij de 25-44-jarigen.
Onder mannen in deze leeftijdscategorie bedroeg het aantal werklozen nog maar 1,9 procent.
