Yes/no questions - Ja/nee-vragen
One way of constructing a question is by means of a yes/no question: questions to which the answer can be either yes or no, ja or nee.
In this type of question, the verb is placed in the first position.

Nee, ze zijn nog ooit in Spanje geweest. |
Note: when the subject is the second person pronoun (jij or je), the verb form is normally stem + t; but when jij/je follows the verb (i.e. with inversion) the verb form is just the stem, as in the second example.
Some yes/no questions are not interrogative in form, but have the >pragmatic effect of an interrogative.
