MA in Dutch Cultural Studies
The Master of Arts in Dutch Cultural Studies will be offered as a distance-learning postgraduate programme from September 2011 onwards. Full details will be posted on this site in October 2010. The programme, which will be taught in English, will be available to students without previous knowledge of Dutch as well as to those already proficient in the language. Learning Dutch, or improving your command of it, will be possible as part of the programme. The syllabus for the Master's programme comprises a total of 180 credits or 72 ECTS. The programme's taught element (120 credits, 48 ECTS) consists of the modules making up the online Postgraduate Diploma in Dutch Cultural Studies. The dissertation brings the remaining 60 credits (24 ECTS). The Master of Arts in Dutch Cultural Studies, like the online Certificate and the Diploma, will be offered as part of Virtual Dutch, a consortium of British universities aiming to promote Dutch studies through online learning and teaching. Teaching staff are drawn from the two major centres of Dutch studies in the United Kingdom: the Department of Dutch at University College London (UCL) and the Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Sheffield. To be admitted to the MA you will need a good first degree (BA or equivalent), preferably in a humanities or social science subject, or relevant professional experience. It will be possible to continue directly from either the Certificate or the Diploma in Dutch Cultural Studies to the MA. Last modified: 21.03.2010 |
