Welcome to this freely accessible online reading course in business dutch!

This online self-access course is aimed at Anglophone university students, researchers and anyone with an interest in acquiring reading skills in Business Dutch. It assumes only a minimal starting knowledge of Dutch. The course enables learners to build up a reading knowledge of Dutch sufficient for them to cope with reading the business pages of Dutch and Flemish newspapers and magazines.

The first part of the course, the so-called General Module, which assumes a beginners' level of modern Dutch from the learners, is geared to general comprehension of Dutch. The language of instruction is English. Learners will practise their reading skills through various interactive and self-correcting tasks and exercises on vocabulary, grammar and syntax, and content. The texts in this part are of an economic nature and are borrowed from a variety of sources, ranging from online encyclopedias to governmental portals.

The second part of the course, the Specialist Module, is entirely in Dutch and concentrates on economic, business and financial usage. Again the tasks and exercises are of an interactive, self-correcting nature. The texts in this second part are original articles from Dutch and Flemish newspapers and magazines.

Good luck!
